Cucurbita moschata is a species that includes some varieties of squash and pumpkin. Cucurbita moschata squash are generally more tolerant of hot, humid weather than C. Mmaxima or C. pepo. They also generally display a greater resistance to disease and insects, especially the squash vine borer.

  • Dickinson field pumpkin - used for commercially canned pumpkin
  • Kentucky field pumpkin
    • Calabaza pumpkin-a commonly grown squash in Cuba and Puerto Rico
    • Seminole pumpkin - a squash cultivated by the Seminole Indians of Florida
    • Neck pumpkin- the ancestor of butternut squash
